The Jacksonville Gem and Mineral Society of Jacksonville, Florida is a non-profit organization that was created to stimulate interests in rocks and minerals by furtherance of the activities of the members of this society in the earth sciences; to disseminate knowledge, methods and procedures for the collection, identification, classification, cutting, polishing, setting, and mounting of specimens for these activities; and to promote good fellowship, proper ethics and conduct in the relationships of said members with each other and with members of other earth science societies in pursuit of these activities.

The membership shall be limited to persons who are actively participating in any phase of work mentioned in the statement of purpose.  Admission for membership will require filling out an application for membership, securing endorsement by one active member, and paying of an annual fee.  Membership allows for  participation in all club sponsored events including meetings, shows, exhibits, field trips, classes, awards and bulletin (Jax Gems) articles.  The JGMS is a member of the American and Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies.  The logos are links to these organizations' sites.
